Samantha & Ruva

After a three week board and train program, obedience training, and three different trainers I was beginning to feel hopeless that Ruva, my Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, was never going to get over her reactivity to other dogs and separation anxiety.

A friend recommended Jen to me and after listening to her experience and background in training, I was intrigued and so excited to see the ways in which she could possibly help Ruva and I.

After just a few weeks of consistent training with Jen, it was like a switch had been flipped in my dog. I was able to walk her on a loose leash and she started paying more attention to me rather than other dogs when passing them. With Jen's skillful observation and care, she was able to show ME how to get through to Ruva in a way that was less confusing to her so I could get the behavior I was asking for, all with positive reinforcement.

Ruva is still a puppy, and we are still working on scenarios and behaviors, but there is no doubt in my mind that with Jens help we will be able to clearly and confidently get through them. Jen has played an integral role in giving Ruva a voice that I just couldn't hear, it has really cemented the bond between my dog and I, and I'm so grateful for her help.

I recommend Jen to friends and even to complete strangers regularly because I know she has a thoughtful and uniquely tailored training approach that is so hard to find.

Christine & Vera

Jen is THE BEST! As an experienced greyhound owner, I was unprepared for my new re-homed racer from Australia, Vera, to be so rambunctious, with such a high prey drive— and she seemed really hard to train. It took her 3 months to learn to climb the house stairs (outside she was OK on stairs)! I cared about the dog, yet she was quite a handful compared to my past greyhounds. I was worried that the prey drive for rabbits and squirrels would make walking her a nightmare of power-lunges and my being knocked off my feet. No fun.

But, luckily, I was refered to Jen and MAGIC HAPPENED. Jen really “got” Vera immediately,  reading her body language as some anxiety, not evidence of a disobedient nature, and assessing her reluctance to take treats and learn basic commands. Jen helped me learn how to manage and deflect the prey drive, and it has really worked! She makes training fun for both dog and best friend of dog (me)! I now have a sweet dog who is still pretty rambunctious, but so loveable, who has learned to pay attention and has some basic manners. Walking Vera is still not without some encounters with rabbits and squirrels, but she now can be distracted. I know to always have high-value treats around. Greyhounds are not super-eager to be trained, but Vera and I practice Jen’s positive reinforcement method, and it works! Made me really love my dog more.

Jen is incredibly professional and well-informed on all kinds of canine behavior or psychology, so she is a fountain of wisdom when you have questions. A+++
